THE BEGINNING - 1970’s

Shekhar and Pushpa Agrawal immigrated to the United States in their early twenties, just after marriage.  They both completed their last year of undergraduate studies during their first year of marriage.  Soon after graduating, Shekhar’s father persuaded him to expand the family business into the U.S.  Shekhar, the youngest amongst his six siblings, abided by his father’s wishes, and in so doing made the journey to the U.S. with his newly wed wife in 1976.   

With their parent’s blessings they started Tara International, named after Shekhar’s mother, Taravati.  They started importing basic tees for women under the Candy label and quickly built up the company, incorporating in 1978. 

The strong trend of the 1970’s was inspired by a desire to be comfortable and casual through one’s apparel and our 100% cotton tees fit right in.
 

LE MIEUX - 1980’s

What made the 1980’s special for our company was the emergence of our brand name, Le Mieux.  Under this new label we launched a line of elegant sequined evening wear that is remembered to this day. 

Delicate fabrics, intricate designs, and quality craftsmanship brought upon the consistent need to create quality apparel.
 

CONSISTENT TRENDS - 1990’s

The 1990’s pushed us back into the comfort era of the 70’s.  We left the glitz and glamour of the sequined gowns for the cool and casual style of the broomstick skirt.  Le Mieux Studio was born and was among the first to innovate this product.  The crinkle skirt exploded into all markets across the U.S. and our new niche was created.
 

FUTURE OBJECTIVE - 21^st Century

Le Mieux has developed a successful embellished t-shirt line, which you can currently purchase on-line.  We plan to focus our attention in the novelty top category so that we can continue to provide an excellent fitting tee for the Missy Woman.  We will soon offer a solid based line with innovative treatments, which will have our continued qualities of comfort, workmanship, and style.
