Numnahs - FAQ's

What types of numnahs does LeMieux offer?

LeMieux offers a range of numnahs, including close contact, dressage, half-lined and general purpose. Numnahs are most commonly used in showing. Like saddle pads, they’re placed underneath a saddle to protect the horse’s back and absorb sweat.

But unlike saddle pads, numnahs are roughly the same shape as a saddle. This means you can’t really see them when a saddle’s placed on top.

What are LeMieux numnahs made of?

LeMieux numnahs are beautifully crafted from a range of premium-quality materials. We have numnahs made from high-quality cotton with a temperature-regulating bamboo lining. Our non-slip styles are crafted from hypoallergenic gel that provides a shock-absorbing layer.

We also have half-lined numnahs made from 100% natural lambswool. Not only does the wool mould to the back, but it allows air to flow through the pad.

Which numnah will suit my horse?

Take a look at our colour collections page to see which colours are best suited to your horse.

How should you look after a LeMieux numnah?

You can wash your numnah on a 30-degree wool cycle in the washing machine. Remove dirt and dried sweat first using a stiff brush and close all hooks and loops. We’d advise washing in a wash bag to protect the fabric and fixings.

For woollen products, use LeMieux wool wash and avoid strong fabric conditioners. After washing your numnah, straighten or flatten it out and leave it to dry naturally away from heat. Never use a tumble dryer.

How often should you replace a numnah?

If washed carefully on a wool cycle or by hand with LeMieux Wool Wash or non-biological powder or liquid, our numnahs will last for years. Your numnah is bound to experience some wear and tear over time. If you look after it well, you’ll only need to replace it once it’s at the end of its life.
