Tendon & Fetlock Boots - FAQ's

What are tendon and fetlock boots?

Tendon and fetlock boots protect your horse’s tendons and lower legs when riding. Tendon boots prevent the hind hooves from striking the front legs during fast work and jumping. In comparison, fetlock boots are placed on the hind legs to protect the fetlock from brushing against the front legs. Together, they provide the legs all-round protection.

What are LeMieux tendon and fetlock boots made of?

LeMieux tendon and fetlock boots are made from a range of high-quality fabrics. Some of our styles are crafted from close-fitting vented TPU. This protects the tendon and prevents build-up.

Others are made from soft, premium-quality leather that moulds beautifully to the leg. Many of our styles have low-friction EVA lining, while others have a lightweight and flexible mesh lining.

What size of tendon and fetlock boots will suit your horse?

To find the right size of tendon and fetlock boots for your horse, check out the size guide on the product description page before you checkout.

How should you look after LeMieux tendon and fetlock boots?

Hand wash your tendon and fetlock boots in warm water at a maximum temperature of 30 degrees. Don’t put them in the washing machine. If your tendon and fetlock boots are made from leather, wash them using a suitable leather cleaner and apply leather protection balm. Once your boots are washed, dry them away from a heat source.
