GP Saddle Pads - FAQs

Why choose a LeMieux General Purpose Saddle Pad?

LeMieux general purpose saddle pads are brilliant for horse riders who dabble in all disciplines. They’re packed with details, including a lower girth strap and girth protection area, that combine function, comfort and style.

Our newer GP saddle pads benefit from a soft, friction-free binding that helps retain the perfect shape. Whichever design you choose, you’ll be sure to add a touch of luxury to your riding gear.

What are LeMieux GP Saddle Pads made of?

LeMieux GP saddle pads come in a range of fabrics. Discover pads in cotton, woven satin, brushed suede and merino wool. Our GP pads also feature a breathable, ultra-soft bamboo lining. This fabric is great for keeping horses comfortable, as it controls temperature and wicks sweat and moisture directly from skin

Who are LeMieux GP Saddle Pads for?

General purpose (GP) saddle pads are designed to fit a wide range of general purpose saddles. They have a traditional shape and high wither design that provides your horse with extra comfort on high-friction areas.

What is the thickness of LeMieux GP Saddle Pads?

The thickness of our pads vary from model to model and are appropriate for the activity and purpose they are designed for to maintain breathability and protection for your horse's back.

When is your GP Saddle Pad fitted correctly?

Your GP saddle pad should be large enough to cover the saddle area that is in contact with the horse. When fitting the saddle pad, ensure it’s centred on your horse’s back and lifted up into the gullet of the saddle to allow freedom over the spine.

How should you look after LeMieux GP Saddle Pads?

Before washing, check the instructions and ensure your drum’s large enough for your saddle pad. You can place most LeMieux GP saddle pads in the washing machine on a standard 30-degree cycle. Remove dirt, hair and dried sweat with a stiff brush first and close all fastenings. Instead of tumble drying your pad, air dry it naturally away from a heat source. You can also pull it into the correct shape when it’s damp to help it maintain its shape.

How long can you use LeMieux GP Saddle Pad?

When properly cared for, a LeMieux GP saddle pad can withstand the rigours of horse riding and look good for years to come.

But even though our GP saddle pads are hard to wear in areas of high friction, horse riding leads to a large amount of wear and tear. Over time, all saddle pads need replacing. When exactly depends on how often and how long you ride.
